The HAICTA 2011 Doctoral Consortium provides doctoral students with an opportunity to have substantive interaction with other young and more experienced researchers regarding their proposed PhD research.. Objectives.. The objectives of the Doctoral Consortium are:.. To provide a forum where doctoral students can present and discuss their proposed research with more experienced researchers.. To give students an opportunity to establish a supportive community of other doctoral students at the same stage of their dissertation research as themselves.. The Consortium will take place one day before the main programme, with the format being: student presentations with plenary discussions, individual meetings with experienced researchers, and dinner.. Prospective student attendees should have written, or be close to completing, a thesis proposal.. It is also desirable that the student not to be so close to completion of their dissertation that discussion would have little or no impact on the dissertation research.. Tutorials are an effective way to educate and/or provide the necessary background to the intended audience enabling them to understand technical and scientific advances.. For HAICTA 2011, we are seeking proposals for tutorials on all topics related to the conference.. A tutorial may be a theme-oriented comprehensive survey, discuss novel techniques or may center around successful and timely application areas..
